The speech addressed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the nation on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Green March highlighted the gains of the national cause in recent years, said Head of Government, Saad Dine El Otmani.
These gains are primarily of diplomatic nature, with the return of Morocco to the African Union (AU), the confirmation of the relevance of the Moroccan position at the Security Council, in addition to the withdrawal of the recognition of the so-called "SADR" by several countries and the inauguration of a set of diplomatic representations in the southern provinces, El Otmani told MAP News Channel (M24).
These achievements are also of economic and development nature as demonstrated by the numerous investments, the infrastructure and development projects implemented in the southern provinces as part of the new development model of the Moroccan Sahara, he added.
HM the King mentioned, in this regard, the port of Dakhla which will be a hub for trade with Africa, and the many agricultural and tourism projects that will give new impetus to the development of these provinces, El Otmani underlined.
The Head of Government also stressed that the latest UN resolution, approved on October 30 by the Security Council, confirms the relevance of the Moroccan position by welcoming Morocco's autonomy initiative which receives more support from the international community.
The Sovereign called for loyalty to the spirit of the Green March, which embodies mobilization, commitment and enthusiasm, El Otmani concluded.
